Lowndes High

LHS Students and Parents,

Together, we are currently navigating uncharted territory as we strive to keep our community safe in these uncertain times. Although school is not in session, our students remain our top priority as teachers diligently work to provide the learning opportunities for continued academic progress.

Of course, the health and safety of your family are far more important than anything else right now; however, if you are seeking ways to maintain a sense of academic structure, we have created a list of LHS resources with optional learning opportunities using Wakelet. This information has been organized for students in the academic content areas by course. Teachers may continue adding academic assignments specifically geared toward their classes in the Wakelet platform or directly through Google Classroom if needed. Printed materials of learning opportunities will also be available at the designated food pick-up locations throughout Lowndes County.

In addition to these academic learning opportunities, we wanted to share a short video (less than 5 minutes) from the Jostens Renaissance Harbor series entitled Rooted in Love. Students may recognize the speaker from our character education lessons we do during VIP time on Thursdays. This video acknowledges the challenges of this moment and calls for building community and taking care of one another. I hope parents and students will watch this together as a reminder of the good that can come from difficult circumstances.

For accessing other information, The Lowndes County School System has established https://one.lowndes.k12.ga.us as a dedicated site to consolidate all school system closure communications and resources in one place for our students, their families, and the community. The site includes links to major communications about the school closures, learning resources, meal information, and also general information for students and their parents about COVID-19.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to school administrators, teachers, or any staff member with questions, concerns, or needs. If you are aware of others in need, please let us know. We have the support of our district office, social workers, and local community partners to assist as needs may arise.

Although this is a new and unique situation for us all, we have no doubt we will persevere through these challenges. Once again, we are here for you and look forward to resuming our normal schedule when safety permits.

We are ONE Lowndes!

Warmest Regards,

The Faculty and Staff of Lowndes High School
